A landmark architectural pavilion proposed for the Circuit of the Americas — a Texas-sized cowboy hat, set to break the world record.

Everything is bigger in Texas, and the world's largest cowboy hat belongs here. Designed as a permanent brand activation for a world-renowned western apparel, boot, and hat company, the “World's Largest Cowboy Hat” was proposed for the grounds of the United States Grand Prix track in Austin.

At 50 feet brim to brim, the design takes its cues from traditional hat stands: a horseshoe-shaped burnished wood bench serves as structural ballast for the steel pavilion frame above. The form of the hat is composed of a lattice aluminum panel system in the style of handcrafted silversmithing — the kind seen on champion rodeo belt buckles and other western apparel.
