Renovation of the Hughes House, a designated local historic landmark, into a social club.
An example of the Prairie style, the Hughes House occupies a generous corner lot in the Tobin Hill neighborhood of San Antonio. After years of vacancy left the house in disrepair, a two-part effort — historic rehabilitation and contemporary interior design — was undertaken to bring the property back to life.
The planned conversion establishes the property as a social club with entertainment and dining for private members and the local community. Initial analysis addressed the integrity of the structure, with the first efforts directed at updating it for occupancy, while parallel interior design work explored a more eclectic, bohemian style reminiscent of the lounges and parlors of New York City in the 1950s and 1960s.
