Flexible community wellness facility serving Wilson County's recreation and public-health programs.
The Wilson County Wellness Center is a municipal facility submitted for congressional funding. It is intended to serve as a public-facing central location for food distribution, shelter during extreme weather, and community events hosted by the county's AgriLife Extension Office and Veterans Service Office.
The building is organized as three parallel gabled bays roofed in standing-seam metal, each lifted at the ridge by a louvered clerestory monitor that pulls daylight and air through the interior. Walls are rock-faced limestone block with cast stone lintels and sills, set against dark corrugated metal at the openings and along a covered porch running the length of the entry. The large central space divides with sliding walls, letting the county adjust the room to the program — distribution one week, shelter the next, a community event after that.
