A custom residence reconciling the vocabulary of the surrounding hilltops with contemporary domestic life.
Set along the face of a hilltop in Boerne, Texas, the residence overlooks a broad expanse of the Texas Hill Country. It sits atop a natural limestone bluff within an existing clearing, nestled in a tree canopy of live oaks, mesquite, cypress, and redbud, on a site of robust grade changes.
The house is composed as a large limestone mass with the conditioned rooms carved into it, set behind a continuous glazed wall that takes advantage of the northern light while buffering the southern sun. Placing the home within the existing clearing limits scarring of the land. Cloistered living spaces are augmented by expansive views of the Texas landscape, a formal patio, and a plunge pool.
